Pris, played by Daryl Hannah, is together with Rachael another seducing replicant. Hannah, one of the most attractive actresses in Hollywood, stated in an interview: "Blade Runner deserves a special place in my heart. It's the only movie where I had a role that was near enough to my expectations about its contents. In fact, that experience was the only reason I decided to move from Chicago to the West Coast. It was an incredible and fascinating experience. The set, the scenography, the costumes... Scott's meticulous view and the devotion of the other actors and troupe, were really incredible. I've said it many times, but I am repeating it also now: Blade Runner is still my favorite film. And also one of my best interpretations". "Playing a replicant was very interesting. Ridley briefly told us their story and about their limited life span. But the mistake made by their creators was the implanted memories, which gave us a justified desire to prolong our life. There's a sort of pathos and tragedy knowing about oneself's mortality. At the same time, even if she had been built for sex, Pris was a childish character. The idea I had about her, was that she was very naive, nearly as a four-year old child. But everybody describes Pris as smart and seducing. And kids are really like this, don't they ? Besides, knowing that death was near, replicants realized that they had to find a way to lengthen their lives. It was a sort of opportunism necessary to be able to cheat, kill and lie. Pris hadn't enough time to relax and be spontaneous with Sebastian, even if that she really liked him. She was living on the edge". |
