Santa Cristina - Ceres/Cantoira - Torino - Italy

Where: top of Santa Cristina peak, Torino. JN35QH, 1340 masl. SOTA I/PM-056

When: 28 May 2006

Bands used: VHF 5W, 20m 5W

Antenna: VHF 4 el. short yagi by DK7ZB on PVC boom; HF untuned dipole

Open to: VHF, no direct visibility beyond 20-30km; HF might be acceptable

DX: no contacts on VHF, one local on 20m

Facilities: there is a long metallic fence on the W side, good for holding a VHF beam mast or an HF vertical

Comments: easy to reach by car (60' from Torino) and 1h45 walk from Cantoira. Nice trail into woods that ends with a long and steep staircase. The summit is spacey but hosts a large chapel. The fence is good for supporting light antennas, but the overall position is not favorable for VHF contesting.

GSM coverage: not checked.
