Santuario di Belmonte - Prascorsano - Torino - Italy

Where: parking lot of Santuario di Belmonte, near Torino. JN35TI, 700 masl.

When: 15 June 2008, "70 MHz and Cross-Band Contest 2008"

Bands used: 70 MHz 100mW CW and 50 MHz RX-only

Antenna: 2 el. Moxon Rectangle on 4m, car vertical on 6m.

Open to: East to South

DX: RTX: 20km, RX: 1980km (Sporadic-E)

Facilities: for VHF use, bring your own mast. Can be tied to the metallic fence at the parking lot or in front of the church (in this case bring your own batteries!)

Comments: easy to reach by car (60' from Torino). The parking lot is large and allows to erect a VHF beam anchored to the metallic fence. If the car shelter/power is not needed, a much better location is the terrace in front of the chuch, which is much more open to South. It has a friendly fence too, but perhaps a call to the priests (monks?!) to announce the activity is due.

GSM coverage: yes.

I made three movies:
