The rpms here are built on Mandrake Linux;
Wine is very system dependent, so when you download wine you need an rpm
for your specific OS, if you aren't using mandrake, click
here to download the correct version of wine for your system. All
the other rpms on this site will run on all major linux
distributions.
To install Wine, download the rpm linked below, and on most systems click
on it to start the set up. There are 2 RPMs, one is the wine RPM, and
one contains the wine debug symbols. Only use the wine-debug-symbols RPM
if you need to debug wine or write a bug report for wine developers.
To start Windows® programs directly from KDE
or Gnome, click on a windows .exe file, and the program should start in wine.
Wine now has Direct3D® support, and its
improving rapidly, so you don't have to use winex for Direct3d
games, even if it probably works better for most games.
To run wine from the command line, just type
wine program.exe where
program.exe is the name of the Windows® program you want
to run. The documentation is here.
IMPORTANT: Wine is alpha software, and is provided on an
"AS
IS" basis, wine is distributed under the LGPL license, for more
