Cedega is a special version of Wine with
extra support for
DirectX® developed by Transgaming. There are
2 versions.
One is the proprietary RPM that you can get by subscribing to
Transgaming. The
Transgaming RPM has copy
protection code, so you can install copy protected games,
Installshield,
a native copy of the Microsoft® msvcrt.dll runtime
library,
the Microsoft® MFC components, texture compression code
and the
Transgaming RPM will allow you to
play
Windows® games full
screen.
If you want to download the Transgaming rpm, you can go to www.transgaming.com
and
subscribe to their site at a cost of 5 US$ per month for a minimum of 3
months. The transgaming RPM cannot be redistributed.
As the source code of Cedega can be downloaded for free, we build and
host binary RPM
packages; you can download them from the link below. To install
the
rpm, in most systems just click on it, and follow the on
screen instructions.
If you've never used wine or winex, run WinexSetup to set up
winex; you can find it in your KDE/Gnome menu.
Alternatively, type alt+f2, write winesetup in the run command that
will
appear, and click on run.
Click on Next, then if you have Windows®
95/98/98SE/ME, click on Next again, if you have Windows®
nt/2000/xp/server2003 or you
don't have Windows®, then click on "Create a new windows
partition", click on Next and then on Finish.
To run a Windows® game or game installer with Cedega,
click (Or double
click, depending on your system settings) the exe file from KDE or
Gnome. You can also run Cedega from a shell; just run
wine filename.exe (Where filename.exe is
the name of the file you want to run)
If this fails, run wineserver && wine filename.exe
NOTE: You cannot install both Wine and our Cedega
rpm.
