Ambient Tech internal modem drivers

From linmodems.org:
Mikhail Moreyra has written a driver for the CL-MD5620DT (Ambient Tech) chipset. It does PPP.

Conexant internal modems

The site for the drivers is:  http://www.linuxant.com/drivers
Download the binary rpm for your system, and run the configuration tool for the driver. To configure the HSF driver run HSFCONFIG, for the HCF drivers run HCFCONFIG and so on. You must install RIPTIDE driver for HCF modems, for HSF they are optional. If you aren't sure about what modem you have, you can run this script. If you can't find an rpm for your system, you will have to download the source code and recompile it.
All the instructions for finding the rpm you need, or for recompiling the source code is on the web site, just remember to link the device that the driver configurator creates (It outputs the name of the device at the end of the guided configuration) to /dev/modem; by the way these drivers work perfectly with KPPP.

The drivers are developed commercially, a free version that works at 14.4K is available, but to use the drivers at 56k you'll have to pay a cheap license fee, or download an older (but free) version of the driver here

Unofficial pctel internal modem driver (winmodem)

This driver should support Via, Asus, CM8x, Sis, PCT and AMR based modems, you can download it from
http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/pctel-linux/welcome.html
The driver comes as a tar.gz file. Decompress it, you'll get a directory, read the instructions in the Readme file. The only thing you must do is install the kernel source code, gcc, make, the usual development tools you need for all drivers you install from source code. I've also written a howto about this driver, you can read it here.

Official pctel internal modem driver (winmodem)
(From linmodems.org)
There's a Linuxworld story about a PCTel linmodem driver. The driver has been released, but PCTel does not distribute it. You can get a copy from PCCHIPS, who puts one of PCTel's modems on their motherboard. Nick Lopez ported the glue to a recent version of 2.3. And there's a bunch more information about the PCTel.
I've never installed these drivers so I can't give any extra tips and tricks about them.
NOTE: This driver has disappeared from the net, if you find any trace of it please email me, all the links are broken for now
