Here you will find only international ONLINE shops. To be listed, they must offer online ordering through the Web and online catalog and prices. They must also ship all over the world and preferably accept Credit Cards.
AARDVARK CYCLES - An online shop offering complete bikes and a wide range of components and accessories. Each product has a good description, a photo and the price (the weight is not always present). They provide a clear interface for ordering and a Secure Server. Additional features include cool links and a clear store policy. The site is modern with a right and balanced use of graphics.
B&J BICYCLE SHOP - A U.S. based online shop offering compelte bikes, components and accessories. Their choice of MTB is not very complete and it is difficult to find out what you are looking for even if they offer an online search engine. You can order online via web but they do not offer neither a secure server nor a shooping basket or other online ordering features.
BARRACUDA - A European online shop (the only one I know) offering mainly a large choice of MTB apparel but also some components (such as forks) and accessories. You can buy by Web and pay in Euro. Every product has a small picture, a detailed description with price and the possibility to click for a larger picture. Even if they do not offer a Secure Server for orders, Credit Card data are encrypted.
BC USA - An online shop specializing in custom built complete bikes. A unique feature they offer is an interactive worksheet where you can choose every single component to build your bike. You can see immediately the weight, find out the total weight and the final price. The site offers a lot of information but not a Secure Server for orders. BC USA does not seem very specialized to get orders via Internet.
BENNETT'S CYCLE - It's a real and online store. As they say, the online store offers only a subset of the real shop's products. In any case the choice of complete bikes and forks is rather wide. The site is fast and easy to browse, offers an image of every item and detailed information. You can easily shop online through a basket but the site does not offer a Secure Server.
BICYCLETUBES.COM - An unusal U.S. based online shop. They specialize in bicycle tubes. You can buy online also other products such as: rim strips, cycling computers, pumps, bags, locks and other small accessories. The item descriptions are good and offer always a picture. The site is simple but effective: fast and intuitive to browse.
BIKE NASHBAR - An online shop with a rich and wide catalog of road and MTB components listed by category and manufacturer. For each product you see part-number, name, manufacturer, price and a small clickable image. By clicking you see a short description and every order option so that you can add it to your basket. They also offer a Secure Server and complete information about shipping rates.
BIKE STORE - It is the online store connected to Dirtworld. It features only a moderate quantity of items each of them with a good and detailed description and a clear picture but unfortunately the weight is never present. A shopping card and a Secure Serve allow you to order easily and securely. The shipping and privacy policies are clearly described.
CAMBRIA BIKE -They sell not only a wide range of components or accessories but also complete bikes and framesets. The site is modern and functional with a good product index, even if frames make the visible area much smaller. Items are listed with a useful short description, color, weight and price, so you can easily compare them. Moreover they feature a Secure Server and a clear shipping rate table.
COLORADO CYCLIST - An online shop offering really many different categories of items. It features a simple search interface, brief product description with price and zoomable image, a Secure Server and basket for ordering online. Unfortunately for each category there are someetimes only a few items and the images, when present, are almost invisible unless zoomed.
JENSON USA - The site has a clear item index that makes the search very fast. The range of products is good and they also have many special offers. The interface is clearly oriented to shopping online and is very easy to use. They offer a Secure Server and ship within 24 hours. Unfortunately the site does not provide descriptions or photos of the items and you cannot calculate shipping cost online.
MOUNTAIN ZONE MARKETPLACE - An online shop specializing in different mountain sports. The mountain bike section is rather poor compared to MTB-specific online shops but here you can find a variety of accessories useful for MTB raids or helpful to complete you equipment.
MUD, SWEAT & GEAR - An online shop offering MTB components, accessories and complete bikes. Main features include: a Secure Server for orders, a search engine, clear item descriptions (sometimes with a photo and the weight), clear shipping policy (but without costs and shipping details), technical articles and links. The site is modern and simple to browse.
PERFORMANCE BICYCLE - I recently tested this online
shop and I STRONGLY DISCOURAGE all of you to buy from them! They first accepted my order and also sent a
written confirmation. Then 3 days later they cancelled it because the shipping and billing address were
different even if their site expressly accepts different billing and shipping addresses! They proved extremely
unprofessional and unreliable therefore my personal suggestion is: DON'T BUY FROM THEM.
PRICE POINT - Price Point offers an extremely wide range of products, a complete and easy-to-use search page, the possibility to list prices of many items in a single page to compare them and also some product reviews. Unfortunately the search sometimes fails and there are few pictures of the products. Moreover they do not offer a Secure Server even if they assure that information is sent encrypted.
SUPERGO - The range of products is good enough. Nice features are a Secure Server for orders and detailed information on product weight and shipping prices all over the world. Each product has a useful detailed description including a picture. The site is not always fast to browse due to the long descriptions and unfortunately it does not offer search capabilities.
TAYLOR BIKE SHOP - An online shop featuring a large range of bikes and components, each of them described in detail and with a photo. A search engine helps you find the items in a fast way. The site is fast and intuitive featuring online shopping card, check out and search options always at hand. Shipping and handling charges are clearly shown and a Secure Server is available for payment.
THE BIKE COMPANY - An online shop offering a rather wide range of frames, complete build kits and components. They can ship all over the world. Their web site is neat, clear and easy and fast to browse. It also offers shopping features such as a basket. Unfortunately the site seems still under construction because some sections were unavailable and at the end of my shopping I got some errors.
ZONA BICI - An Italian online shop selling all over the world. It features a rather wide range of MTB components and accessories (no complete bikes or frames). The site is well done and complete and offers: a search engine, item listing, shopping card, pictures and description of every item, price, clear shipping and selling policy and a Secure Server for orders.
