Sulla piana di Atropathena l'esercito del regno di Palsia si accinge ad affrontare quello degli invasori Lusitani: la battaglia si preannuncia cruenta ma il tradimento di Kharlan, uno dei generali di Palsia, porterà ad una rovinosa sconfitta per i difensori del regno. Tra i pochi a salvarsi troviamo Arslan, principe ereditario di Palsia, e Daryoon, generale del regno e fedele amico: cominciano così le peripezie dei due amici alla ricerca di alleati e risorse per la liberazione del regno, ormai assoggettato dai Lusitani. Ben presto a loro si uniranno Lord Narsus, geniale stratega ed artista, il suo servitore Elan, Lady Pharangis, sacerdotessa e guerriera, e Gieve, arciere e cantore errabondo. Contro di loro si scatenerà una feroce caccia all'uomo da parte dei soldati Lusitani, capeggiati dal misterioso Cavaliere dalla Maschera d'Argento, che ben presto rivelerà avere ben più di una ragione per rivendicare il trono di Palsia...
I film ed Oav de "La leggenda di Arslan", tratti dall'omonimo shojo di Yoshiki Tanaka, sono giunti per la prima volta in Italia nel 1994, pubblicati in videocassetta dalla ormai mitica Granata Press: questa propose, in un arco di alcuni mesi, i due film cinematografici dedicati alla serie, usciti in Giappone agli inizi degli anni '90 per la Kadokawa e caratterizzati da un'eccellente animazione. Fallita la Granata Press, la serie venne interrotta fino al 1996, quando la Polygram, rilevati i diritti, rieditò i due film e propose i primi due episodi della serie di Oav; purtroppo anche in questo caso la Polygram fallì prima di terminare la serie che rimase pertanto incompleta. Da allora, purtroppo, nessun altro ha più pensato di riproporre questa bella e particolare saga fantasy.

On the plain of Atropathena, the army of the kingdom of Palsia is ready to face the invaders from Lusitania: the battle will be bloody, but the betrayal of Kharlan, one of the generals of Palsia, will inflict a crushing defeat to the defenders of the Kingdom. Among the few survivors there are Arslan, the crown prince of Palsia, and Daryoon, general of the kingdom and his faithful friend: this is the beginning of the vicissitudes of the two friends, who are looking for allies and resources to free their kingdom, now subject to the Lusitanians. Soon afterwards, Lord Narsus, excellent strategist and artist; Elan, his servant; Lady Pharangis, priestess and warrior; and Gieve, wandering archer and singer join them. A wild man hunt for them is organised by the Lusitanians, headed by the mysterious Silver Mask Knight, who will soon reveal that he has much more than one reason to claim the throne of Palsia…  
The films and Oav of "The legend of Arslan", deriving from the homonymous shojo written by Yoshiki Tanaka, have been released for the first time in Italy in 1994, published in videocassette by the mythical Granata Press: the two cinema movies dedicated to this series, released in Japan at the beginning of the Nineties by Kadokawa and characterised by an excellent animation, have been published over a period of a few months. When Granata Press went bankrupt, the publication stopped until 1996, when Polygram bought the rights, re-published the two films and presented the first two episodes of the Oav series; unfortunately, also this company went bankrupt without completing the series. Since then, unluckily, no other publisher proposed this beautiful and special fantasy series.
