Moby Dick 5 (in originale Mu no Hakugei, La balena bianca di Mu) è un originale ed appassionante anime del 1980, diretto da Tetsuo Imazawa da un'idea di Motoo Fukuo.
La storia narra di come sulla terra incomba di nuovo la minaccia del popolo di Atlantide, che sta per ritornare sul nostro pianeta dopo un esilio nello spazio durato 30.000 anni. Gli atlantidei erano stati in precedenza sconfitti e scacciati da Ra-mu, saggio governante del regno di Mu, da sempre rivale di Atlantide: la guerra che in passato aveva contrapposto i due regni portò allo sterminio completo del popolo di Mu, che riuscì comunque ad esiliare i nemici scagliando il loro stesso continente nello spazio grazie alla potenza dell'Orialcon. Per 30.000 anni gli atlantidei ed il loro crudele re, Zargon, hanno dormito, in attesa della rivincita; risvegliatisi con l'approssimarsi del loro continente, galleggiante nello spazio, alla terra, gli atlantidei cominciano la loro opera di conquista, prima dallo spazio e poi dalla terra, una volta che il continente di Atlantide torna nella sua antica posizione. A contrastarli risorge ancora una volta Ra-mu, reincarnatosi in una gigantesca balena bianca (da qui il titolo italiano), che si fa aiutare da sua figlia Madora, dal piccolo Myu e da cinque discendenti dei suoi più valorosi guerrieri, Ken, Jo, Shin, Marabù e Rei.
La lotta diventa ben presto molto cruenta, con gravi perdite da una parte e dall'altra e la vittoria arriderà ai nostri eroi solo dopo enormi sacrifici e dolorose perdite.
La serie consta di 26 episodi fitti di avvenimenti, battaglie e colpi di scena: si scoprirà che non tutti gli atlantidei sono poi così malvagi e tra di essi troveremo Ra-mei, l'altra figlia di Ra-mu e sorella di Madora, lasciata in ostaggio a Zarkon nella precedente guerra e convinta che l'imperatore di Atlantide sia il suo vero padre e perciò nemica giurata di Ken e dei suoi compagni.
La serie, trasmessa ormai diversi anni fa, non è stata più replicata e questo è un vero peccato considerando la sua validità: purtroppo è molto difficile riuscire a reperire delle immagini su di essa: quelle che presento in questa pagina sono state acquisite da un vecchio numero del Corriere dei Piccoli e per questa ragione risultano essere non proprio perfette. Moby Dick 5 (italian title of the original Mu no Hakugei, The White Whale of Mu) is an original and exciting anime dated 1980, directed by Tetsuo Imazawa and based on an idea of Motoo Fukuo. The story tells about the menace constituted by the people of Atlantis, which are going to return to our planet after having been in exile for 30,000 years. The people from  Atlantis had been previously defeated and driven away by Ra-mu, the wise governor of the reign of Mu, the rival of Atlantis from time immemorial: the war which had opposed the two reigns brought to the utter destruction of the people of Mu, who however succeeded in sending their enemies into exile by launching their whole continent into space thanks to the power of the Orialcon. The people of Atlantis and their cruel sovereign, Zargon, slept for 30,000 years, waiting for revenge; they woke up when their continent, floating in space, came close to earth, and they began their conquest, starting from space and continuing on earth, once the continent of Atlantis reached its ancient position. Re-mu rises again to contrast them, reincarnating as a giant white whale (originating the Italian title), helped by his daughter Madora, by the young Myu and by five descendants of his most valiant warriors, Ken, Jo, Shin, Marabù e Rei.  
The battle soon becomes very bloody, with heavy losses on both sides, and our heroes will gain victory only by means of enormous sacrifices and painful losses.
This series is formed by 26 episodes, full of events, battles and stage-tricks: we discover that not all the people of Atlantis are wicked, and we get to know Ra-mei, the other daughter of Ra-mu and sister of Madora, left to Zarkon as a hostage during the previous war and convinced that the emperor of Atlantis is her real father, and therefore a sworn enemy of Ken and his companions.  
This series has been broadcast several years ago and never repeated, and this is a great pity if we consider its value: unluckily, it is very difficult to find pictures of it: I took the pictures shown on this page from an old number of "Il Corriere dei Piccoli", therefore they are far from being perfect.
