Mima è una giovane idol giapponese che decide di abbandonare il gruppo in cui canta e con il quale ha raggiunto una certa notorietà per tentare di sfondare nel mondo del cinema. Riesce ad ottenere una parte in un famoso serial tv, ma da quel momento la sua vita diventa un inferno: il mondo televisivo risulta essere assai più spietato di quanto potesse aspettarsi, i vecchi fan non le perdonano il "tradimento" ed un misterioso assassino comincia a colpire le persone che le sono vicine. La stessa Mima comincia a perdere contatto con la realtà e con la propria identità: chi è la vera Mima? L'ingenua idol, l'attrice affamata di successo, la cantante prima amata e poi odiata dai suoi fans? La trama di questo film non è forse delle più originali, ma ha il merito di presentare un mondo, quello delle idol giapponesi, decisamente estraneo e lontano da noi, ma proprio per questo affascinante. Tutto il film risulta avvolto da un'atmosfera cupa ed angosciante che coinvolge lo spettatore mentre segue le peripezie di Mima, una ragazza alla ricerca del successo, ma anche di se stessa e del misterioso individuo che le sta lentamente rovinando la vita. Un giallo molto "psicologico", ma se questo non vi spaventa vale decisamente la pena di dare un'occhiata a questo prodotto che, tra l'altro, in America è un vero e proprio Cult per la crudezza del racconto (considerando che si tratta pur sempre un cartone animato).

Mima is a young Japanese idol who decides to abandon the group in which she sings - and with which she achieved a certain renown - to make her way in the cinema. She obtains a role in a famous tv series, but from then on her life becomes like hell: the tv world is much worse than she expected, the old fans do not forgive her "betrayal", and a mysterious murderer starts to kill the persons close to her. Mima starts to lose contact with reality and with her identity: who is the real Mima? The innocent idol, the renown and successful actress, the singer - at first beloved and then hated by her fans? The plot of this movie might not display a lot of originality, but it shows us the world of Japanese idols, which is decidedly foreign to and very far from us, and very fascinating just because of this. A dark and grieving atmosphere permeates all the film and gets the audience involved in the vicissitudes of Mima, a girl seeking success, but also her real self and trying to identify the mysterious fellow who is slowly destroying her life. A very "psychological" thriller, but if this does not frighten you, this product is certainly worth a look - by the way, it has become a real "cult" in America because of its rawness (after all, it is a cartoon).
