RACE CHIANINA

The Chianina is between most ancient razze bovine of the world and one of the more important of Italy, known and appreciated since the antiquity. Of probable origin umbro-Etruscan, the bovines chianini are raised from at least 2200 years in the valley of the Tevere high and in the Valdichiana, from where the breeding has extended to others province of Central Italy (Arezzo, Florence, Livorno, Perugia etc...).Nel slid century, the breeding of the " Chianina " had a remarkable development and dissemination and the student Ezio Marchi started an important selection job  in order to improve the attitude to the meat of the animal, much to become one of the razze more valuable of Italy.
In recent years the breedings of the Chianina race have crossed the oceans (South America, Argentine, USA, Canada, Australia, etc.) concurring also the crossing with local bovines for the creation of razze adapted with several the Countries.
E' race of great ransom, the Tauruses catches up 180 cm. to the garrese; one remembers one of quesi, " Donetto ", of the Estate of the Fratta, than to the age of eight years it caught up 18 q.li nearly. of weight and " Giogo " that to 6 years Kg.1545 weighed and from 1954 to 1961 it made to procreare 503 year-old calves.
Originally raised from the peasants for the great attitude to the job of the fields but adapted also for the crossing on vacche of razze from meat and from latte, is today race above all from meat. The famous " bisticks to the fiorentina " are obtained from the region back-lombare of the animal.
