Top Cat moved to another address; you're being re-addressed.
On March 30th 2003, I received a mail from the Wind (my old provider, where this page is hosted), telling me that the Italian Tribunal advised them to only allow maintanance of their free web space through their POP, so that they could record the address of the maintainer and make sure that illegal operation (such as pornography) did not happen through their site. The original letter they sent me is shown in the italian side of this page.
It is a great that people do care for making sure that illegal things happen on Internet; so - despite this step makes it impossible to me to maintain my pages here - I'll just move my site elsewhere and not investigate more on the reasons why the only way to protect the provider from illegal things is to let people pay for free web space. I just wander how all of the other providers did.. Take care!

Gentile Utente
la decisione di limitare la pubblicazione o modifica dei contenuti su spazio WEB ospitati da Digiland esclusivamente collegandosi tramite POP o connessione ADSL Libero, Infostrada o Wind è stata presa su suggerimento dell' Autorità Giudiziaria.
Il fine è, in caso di indagini dell' Autorità Giudiziaria per abusi legati ad esempio alla pedopornografia, poter individuare con esattezza coloro che abbiano pubblicato il materiale in questione sullo spazio Digiland.
Per le stesse motivazioni il 10-1-2002 era stata inibita la pubblicazione/modifica via FTP per utenti provenienti da connessioni non italiane e anche per questo cambiamento gli utenti erano stati avvisati tramite e-mail.
Per ciò che concerne i clienti a pagamento del servizio Premium Libero Superdigilander, per i quali è prevista la fatturazione e dei quali pertanto sono disponibili tutti i dati anagrafici, sarà possibile accedere anche da pop esterni tramite le funzionalità di File Manager.

Che dire? La tutela dei nostri bimbi dalla pedo-pornografia é un'istanza che non puó e non deve essere contestata. Purtroppo l'azione che Wind ha fatto per perseguire questi nobili obiettivi obbliga di fatto a pagare per lo spazio web gratuito, semplicemente una cosa che non mi va di fare, finché altri provider, come quello dove Vi sto re-indirizzando, forniscono anche in Italia spazio web gratuito.
