Description The induction coils is made of two coaxial coils with a core of iron wires. We have a primary circuit of few turns connected to a battery and to a interrupter. The secondary is made of a great number of turns and ends with two points that form a spark gap. By opening and closing the circuit, we obtain a pulsating current in the primary that induces a very high tension on the secondary thus provoking a spark between the two points. |
Function To show an utilization of an electromagnet. |

Description The hammer of the bell is controlled by an electromagnet. By closing the circuit the hammer is attracted by the electromagnet. The shifting of the hammer provokes the opening of the circuit and the demagnetisation of the electromagnet. In this way, thanks to a recall spring, the hammer returns to its previous place thus closing again the circuit and so on. During this movement the hammer strikes the bell. |
Function To show the transmission by telegraph. |

Description Upon a solid base with adjustable screws the magnet is fixed with polar expansions. The mobile coil, very solid and without a damper, is suspended with a bronze ribbon, fixed at the upper end to a suspension adjustable in the vertical direction and turning on a horizontal plane. At the bottom end the ribbon is fixed to a spring adjustable with a set screw. The mirror of DArsonvals galvanometer is replaced with a mobile index of aluminium in front of the scale, visible from afar. The tension of the ribbon is regulated so that, applying a thermoelectric couple made of copper wire and a nickel silver wire allows to the binding posts, we obtain visible indications when we warm slightly the junction of the two wires. By applying a normal telephone receiver to the binding posts, we get clearly visible shifts of the index for little collisions on the vibrating lame. |
Function The apparatus has been used for electrotherapy. |
