Description It is a mercury thermometer placed inside a glass cap that has a spherical shape of 55 mm diameter around the bulb. We presume the bulb to be vacuum. For this the heat arrives to the bulb in form of radiant energy. |
Function To study the propagation of the heat. |

Description The model is made of metal and glass. The Davy lamp is used as a safety lamp in the mines where we can have firedamp, i.e. a gas formed most of all of methane, that becomes an explosive mixture when mixed with air. In the Davy lamp the flame is surrounded by a metallic net that prevents it from passing outside. If some firedamp crosses the net, it produces a little explosion when it comes in contact with the flame. The flame dies out informing of the imminent danger. |

Function To show the cubic expansion of solids. |
Description The ring is anchored to a metallic curved pole. The sphere hangs from the end of the pole with the help of a small chain. There is an alcohol stove to heat the sphere. |
Function To study the conductivity of solids. |

Description It is made of a rectangular metal box. On the anterior side there are four holes on which we can apply bars of different materials covered with wax. Once the box is filled with hot water, the heat propagates along the bars. The quantity of melt wax depends on the conductivity of the different materials of the bars. |
Function Transmission of the heat. |
Description We have a cube with a hole on the top. We fill the cube with warm water. The lateral sides, painted with different colours, transmit the heat in different ways. |
Function Functioning of a thermo-motor. |

Description The apparatus is in wood and iron. The cylinder and the piston are visible. The timing system of the steam is quite evident. |
