Adjust the grayscale of your monitor

This 17 steps grayscale (by courtesy of Chuck Vaughn ) shows a complete range of values between 0 (white) and 255 (black). You should clearly see a difference between each step or you should adjust the brightness and contrast of your monitor until it does. This way you will see the images the way they were plannned.
