When: 1994?, 2006
Bands used in 1994: VHF 2.5W, 5el. yagi
Bands used in 2006: 10/15/20m 2.5W, homebrew car vertical
Open to: East through the Valle di Susa. No direct visibility of pianura padana. The rest obstructed by taller mountains.
Facilities: none for VHF. For HF operations tall pine tress surround ski slopes.
Comments 1994: operated next to the road that cuts the ski path. Very bad location for VHF&up activity. No line-of-sight path to open areas. Avoid it. Easy access, 1 minute walk from the car. This location is not for VHF contesting.
Comments 2006: operated just above the road that cuts the ski path, see picture below. I used a battery powered FT-817, and with 2.5W SSB during the IOTA contest it was hard to be heard on 20m. 15m was acceptable, 10m OK if open with sporadic-E. This location is not for HF DX'ing, occasional random intra-European QSOs can be established.
GSM coverage: good.
Setting up the HF antenna, 3.3m long radiator with base loading coils
Operating on HF, some 8m from the car.
