BODY
- The fact that the Dom's body is usually presented
as a not jointed unit is one of the reasons why it
looks so bulky and awkward. To remedy to this
situation I separated the body in three movable
sections:
Upper body - I located in this section the two
batteries that power the light spot in the head. I
made room for the batteries and the wires cutting
off all the superfluous plastic inside this section
and opening a hole under the pin of the head, to
make the wires pass through. To control the
circuit, I inserted a switch in the back of this
section and covered it with a removable cylindrical
element of the backpack. The further modifications
to the backpack were the movable engine nozzles and
the holster for the Dom's big sword.
Middle body - After being separated from the other
sections, this middle part was filled with putty
and lengthened with plasticard. Through a careful
work of sandpaper and file, I created a profile for
the upper part of this section that fits right in
the lower part of the upper section of the body.
Instead for the lower part of this section, I
inserted a B-joint connecting it with the lower
part of the body.
Lower body - All the frontal and lateral skirts
were cut out, filled with putty and then joined
again with this section of the body, using copper
wire threaded into the belt to ensure their
mobility. The rear skirt houses five nozzles of the
propulsion system and each of them was equipped
with a new plasticard tube disappearing in the
internal upper part of this section. Finally I
inserted outside on the rear skirt two rings of
plasticard, to function as holsters for the
panzerfausts.

ARMS
- I filled the shoulder coverings, which were
completely hollow, using 0,3 mm plasticard and
putty. Then I changed the hands joints with new
B-joints, enabling the wrist to bend enough to
handle the bazooka.
LEGS - Only the lower part of the legs and
the feet were modified. First of all, each nozzle
in the lower legs was equipped with new plasticard
tubes and connected to a larger tube functioning as
a fuel tank. Then the joints connecting the feet to
the lower leg were lengthened of about 5 mm to
permit a wider range of movement to the feet. The
feet were modified too. In fact the feet tips were
cut out from the rest and made mobile. New air
intakes were also added, using 6 mm plastic tube
bent with the flame. The famous Jet Stream battle
tactic, made famous by the Zion "Black Stars", was
based on the use of the air cushion propulsion
ensured by these powerful engines.

WEAPONS
- There are not many weapons in this kit. In fact,
it contains only an ill proportioned bazooka. So I
decided to bolster its equipment and make this Dom
a really fearsome war machine. I started modifying
the bazooka, adding a plastic tube in the final
part of it to increase its length, a new protection
covering with a handle for the left hand made with
4 mm plasticard and a few other details. Then I
made the two panzerfaust, using spare parts from
other models and plastic tubes, while on the chest
I added smoke grenades tubes, typical equipment for
most of modern tanks. Finally I added the big heat
sword on the back.

PAINTING
- The main colours are a mix Dark Blue (HUMBROL
104), darkened with a drop of black, and U.S. Olive
Drab (HUMBROL HM3). The weapons were painted with
the usual Gun Metal (HUMBROL 53).
WEATHERING - Some dry black washing to
simulate combat wearing and worn out parts.
