The new-look NFL opponents list
was released Tuesday. It features eight four-team divisions, thanks to
the inclusion of the Houston Texans next season.
With the new schedule, teams will
play all nondivision opponents every three years, and every AFC team will
play every NFC team once every four years. And a team's record from the
previous year will have less of a bearing on its upcoming schedule, since
only two of the 16 games will be based on the previous year's standings.
The NFL will announce dates in early
spring. The season begins Sept. 8-9, with the season finale on Dec. 30.
The Super bowl is Sunday, Jan. 26
in San Diego. The Pro Bowl is a week later, Feb. 2, in Honolulu.
