Interno di Santa Colomba in Rimini all’inizio del XIV° sec.

Una nuova immagine dell’interno della cattedrale riminese di Santa Colomba.
La presente ricostruzione vuole proporre una possibile situazione di inizio Trecento, con il polittico del Baronzio ( http://users.skynet.be/soulme/images/Colombe_Rimini.jpg ).sull’altare ed un crocifisso che si ispira a quelli realizzati da artisti di scuola riminese.
Dal punto di vista architettonico, si notano le scalinate su entrambi i lati della navata, come segnalato da Roberto Adimari, nella sua opera "Sito riminese" del 1616.
Sappiamo che un terremoto avvenuto agli inizi del XIV° secolo danneggiò l’edificio e determinò un restauro della chiesa che vide all’opera i pittori riminesi. A titolo puramente indicativo si è voluto mostrare la navata centrale decorata da affreschi.
Attorno alla metà del secolo le pareti esterne furono progressivamente "sfondate" per permettere l’apertura di diverse cappelle.
In termini generali, questa ricostruzione e, ancor di più, quelle dell’esterno (non visibili sul sito) mostrano grandi analogie tra la situazione medievale di Santa Colomba e quella del Duomo di San Leo ( http://www.incastro.marche.it/incastro/sanleo/a.jpg ), come intuito a suo tempo da Corrado Ricci. Antichi testi (XVI°- XVII° sec.) rilevano inoltre come la navata centrale della chiesa avesse conservato strutture della primitiva basilica paleocristiana.

A new picture of a inner view of the riminese cathedral of Santa Colomba.
This 3d reconstruction shows the possible situation in the early XIVth cent., with the polyptych of Baronzio ( http://users.skynet.be/soulme/images/Colombe_Rimini.jpg )on the altar and a painted cross inspired to the works of riminesi artists of that age.From an architectonical point of view, you can notice stairs on the end of the aisles as it has been described by Roberto Adimari, in his book "Sito riminese", a. D. 1616.
We know that in 1309 an earthquake damaged the building and caused its restauration when riminesi painters worked in the church. This is the reason because we show some frescoes on the walls of the nave.
In around the half of the century the walls of the aisles were open to allow the building of a few chapels.
In general terms, this reconstruction and, even more, the reconstructions of external views (not visible on this website) point out many rasemblances between the medieval aspect of Santa Colomba and the Cathedral of San Leo ( http://www.incastro.marche.it/incastro/sanleo/a.jpg ), as Corrado Ricci had already indicated in his old studies. Ancient texts (XVIth. - XVIIth.centt.) point out that the central nave of the church still showed its ancient palaeochristian characters.
