I've seen things you people wouldn't believe: Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain... Time to die...

Roy Batty in his dying sequence

Probably this is the most striking, amazing and memorable dialogue of the movie. You can find these words everywhere, in film reviews, on T-shirts. It will always be remembered. It's the cult.

Who is Roy Batty?

Leader of the replicants. Combat model, optimum self-efficiency. Thus the film states at the beginning. But eventually he is not a robot, a man-machine. In the ending sequences of the movie he saves Deckard's life. Why? Roy is fascinated by life, even if he plays with death. And now, at the very ending moments of his life, it's Deckard, this meaningless human, who spits in death's face. Roy appreciates this ultimate provoking attachment to life. This is the reason why Roy saves his life - he rewards Deckard's challenge with a deed of generosity. More human than humans.
