The AudioExcel TM AV511 is one of the most inexpensive sound cards featuring digital audio output on the market.
The sound card is equipped with a CMI 8738 audio chip and beside the meanwhile usual A3D interface, 4 channel sound and OPL 3 FM synthesizer it has got an SPDIF in/out.

Digital Audio (SPDIF in/out)

The AV511 is equipped with a coaxial digital output (SPDIF-out) at 44.1 kHz sample rate (24 bit). So all you need to start digital transmissions between PC and MD or DAT instantly is a chinch cable.
In case your DAT or MD recorder has got no coaxial input the AV511 features a connector for optional adapter boards like our UNICON (optical in/out) or the POFP (optical and coaxial in/out!). The following picture shows the "special" settings of the AV511 concerning SPDIF IN/OUT ;-).

Stereo Mixer and FM Music Synthesizer

The sound card features stereo analog mixing from CD-audio and line-in, stereo digital mixing from voice, digital CD-audio and FM/Wave-table as well as mono mixing of microphone signals. The OPL3 FM synthesizer works on up to 20 voices.
All in all one can call the AV511 well equipped for all usual digital needs.
