Because we were so excited about the AudioExcel, we now offer a second all-inclusive-digital-set adding our POFP.
Why should I buy the TOSSet? Aren't there more expensive solutions which do a better job ...
The TOSSet addresses to people who are satisfied with 44.1 kHz SPDIF in/out (CD quality) and don't long for paying features they never need with a price that is more than five times as high.
The AudioExcel PCI sound card is equipped with a CMI 8338 audio chip.
Besides the currently usual A3D interface, 4-channel-technology, OPL 3 FM synthesizer...the card has got a SPDIF in/out. Unfortunately this signal out - what did you expect ? - has got the form of an unused jumper. The standard version of this card only offers a coax-SPIDF out (if you are satisfied with that, you can of course order the single sound card from us).
But in probably most cases one owns e.g. a MiniDisc recorder which uses TOSlink-standard. This is the moment our POFP enters the stage: it makes this sound card a unique TOSlink in/out solution.
The quality of this connection is excellent. We performed some test measurements for two MiniDisc recorders (using the TOSSet 1, nearly the same features)...
