Primo popolano: Mostro che parla.
Secondo popolano: Questo non possibile.
Primo popolano: E invece sì.
Creatura: Ho detto: mettete giù quell'uomo.
Ispettore Kemp: Ma chi crede lei di essere per dare ordini a questa gente und perfino a me.
 Creatura: Io sono il mostro.
Ispettore Kemp: Sì, io vedo bene, vedo, lei è mostro.
Creatura: Tutta la gente ha avuto per me sempre odio e disprezzo, guardavano il mio viso e il mio corpo e correvano via inorriditi, nella mia solitudine avevo deciso che se non riuscivo a suscitare l'amore che profondamente agognavo avrei suscitato paura, io vivo perché questo povero caro genio squinternato mi ha dato la vita, soltanto lui mi considerava come qualcosa di bello e poi, quando gli sarebbe stato facile rimanere al sicuro, egli ha usato il suo corpo come fosse una cavia per darmi un cervello normale e un modo più sofisticato e civile di esprimermi.
